What would you pay for a full-time programmer to create custom software for you?

Go to elance.com or rentacoder.com and you can get your own software created, sure. Heck, you could even go there and ask people to bid on a project to create your own clone of Affiliate Elite. Since you can show them the Affiliate Elite site you're saving a lot of time and resources by showing them exactly what you want them to create.

But even so, to have something like this programmed will easily cost you thousands of dollars, even if the programmer is a Romanian kid in his basement. It's a lot of work! And you have to manage him every step of the way. Not only would it cost you a bundle, but it would take weeks to get a beta version, then you have to test it and go back and forth for a few more weeks to work out the bugs. And this is a best-case scenario. You could easily end up working with someone that has excellent reviews but just plain sucks. I've fallen into this trap before and let me tell you, it's a pain in the ass! How these people get glowing reviews is beyond me.
